We are not unique

Not comparing this trip to our last trip to Kenya will be a challenge. But last time, when we arrived at our gate at the London airport for our flight to Nairobi, we were somewhat stunned to find that we were some of the only white faces in the crowd. Yesterday, at the same gate, you had to look hard to find a face that wasn't white. Don't know why, but it was a little disappointing. Many mission groups with matching tshirts and midwest twangs.

Many hours of crying babies later, we arrived in Nairobi. We are staying at the Fairview Hotel for 3 nights. It is a beautiful place with beautiful gardens and gentle breezes. Charming Kenyans who are so kind and helpful.

At breakfast, a lovely gentleman named Charles Szlapak came and introduced himself. He is the owner of the Fairview. Our friend Joni from home made the introduction via email before we arrived. He was so kind in inviting us to his home tonight for Shabbat dinner. And tomorrow, we will go with hm to the local synagogue for Shabbat services. We all very much look forward to these adventures.
